Many people are looking to eat healthily are and are looking for snacks that are nutritional. It seems like it is hard to satisfy hunger while still wanting something that will taste good. There are some great nutritional snacks that are easy to make and will taste great. They are low in fat and calories and they are packed with vitamins and nutrients that the body needs in order to stay healthy.

 

 

 

Cheddar Zucchini Muffins

These little muffins are easy to make and they will help give a person energy throughout their day. The muffins are packed with the protein that a person needs in order to stay healthy. The zucchini is a fresh taste and the cheddar cheese adds a savory taste to the muffins. They can be eaten throughout the day to give the body the energy that is needed. They are great for a snack between meals and can be eaten on the go.

 

 

 

Hummus

Many people have heard about this spread in the past couple of years. It has increased in popularity due to the good taste, versatile use, and the health benefits. This spread is made from chickpeas. They are low in fat and high in protein. Hummus can be flavored with a number of things as well from garlic to red pepper. If a person has an easy hummus recipe they can make it in a matter of minutes. There are also many flavors that can be purchased already made at the store. Greek yogurt is a healthy snack. It has plenty of probiotics that will help keep the digestive system health. Greek yogurt has plenty of protein and is thicker than regular yogurt. When eating Greek yogurt by itself it is not as sweet. This yogurt does come in flavors so a person can find the type of yogurt that they like. If a person is looking to add some fruit flavor to their Greek yogurt without adding sugar this is a simple option that they can do at home. A tablespoon of low sugar jelly or jam can be added to the non-fat plain Greek yogurt. This will give it some additional flavor without adding fat or sugar.

 

 

 

Protein Deviled Eggs

Eggs are packed with protein and are actually found to be good for the body. Hard-boiled eggs are great to take on the go and they can be made ahead of time. when a person makes deviled eggs they usually use mayonnaise. While this may taste good mayonnaise it adds additional fat and calories to the eggs. There is a way to reduce fat and calories while giving the eggs a good taste. A person should hard boil the eggs and cut them in half like they would make a regular deviled egg. The egg yolk is then mixed with a little bit of hummus and seasonings. This is a great protein packed snack that can be eaten on the go.

 

 

 

String Cheese

Cheese sticks are tasty and they are fun to at as well. The best part is they are packed with the protein the body needs to stay healthy and to give it energy. There are a number of varieties of string cheese to choose from. There is mozzarella cheese as well as cheddar cheeses and even mixed types of cheese sticks. To keep the snack low in fat look for part-skim cheese options.

 

 

 

Protein Trail Mix

This trail mix is tasty and it is loaded with protein. This form of trail mix has extra protein and is low in fat. It can be made ahead of time and is a great snack to pick on during the day when some energy is needed. Air popped popcorn is mixed with some peanuts and some roasted edamame. This is crunchy and good for those that want a healthy snack.

 

 

 

Seeds

Seeds are loaded with protein and contain other minerals that the body needs in order to be healthy. Pumpkin seeds or even sunflower seeds make great snacks. They come in many different flavors as well. A person can purchase the seeds already roasted or they can roast their own. Frozen Banana

A banana is packed with potassium and makes a great snack. To add a new twist on the banana it can be frozen and peanut butter can be added for some extra protein and some additional energy. All a person has to do is cut the banana in half and spread some peanut butter on it. The banana is then put back together and wrapped up. Allow the banana to freeze for at least four hours. Air Popped Popcorn

Popcorn that is popped with air is free of all the fat that the buttery kind adds. This also means that it is lower in calories. Just because the popcorn is air popped does not mean this snack has to be lacking flavor. There are a number of things that can be sprinkled on the popcorn to give it a unique taste. A pinch of salt can be added to the popcorn to enhance the flavor. Parmesan cheese can add a nice taste to the popcorn. Garlic powder is always good for those that like a savory hint. Celery

Celery is packed with vitamins and minerals. Celery is healthy for the body and can burn off more calories chewing and digesting it then it contains. Celery can be eaten on its own as a healthy and fresh treat. For those that are looking to add additional taste to the celery, they can add a little bit of low-fat cream cheese or some peanut butter.

 

 

 

Cucumber Sandwich

Cucumber is another vegetable that is fresh and refreshing. Sliced cucumber with a touch of salt is a good snack on its own. To make a filling snack cucumber can still be used as the main ingredient. Whole wheat can be used as well as a touch of hummus. The cucumber is then placed over the hummus and is eaten as a sandwich. This can also make a nice and tasty late lunch.

 

 

 

Avocado

This healthy fruit contains omega 3 fatty acids that are good for the brain. These healthy fats are also good for the body and will increase the feeling of fullness for a longer period of time. Avocado can be topped with some lime juice and black pepper and eaten in slices. It can also be used to make a healthy guacamole to dip vegetables in. Avocado can also be used as a replacement for mayonnaise on a sandwich.

 

 

 

Mock Ice Cream

People love ice cream but they do not like all the fat and calories that it contains. Ice cream does contain calcium but it is high in fat. There is a good alternative to a person can enjoy a sweet treat as a dessert but without all the fat and calories. Some Greek yogurt can be put into a cup and semisweet chocolate chips can be added. A person will still get a sweet taste only without all the fat. Some strawberries, a banana, or even cherries can be added as well to make this a mock ice cream sundae.

 

 

 

Peanut Butter Apples

The old saying has proven to be true. An apple a day keeps the doctor away. With a little peanut butter added to the apple, a person gets an added boost of protein. The apple can be sliced up and served with peanut butter. Any other form of nut or seed butter will go well with the apple too.

 

 

 

Java Smoothie

Many people think that coffee is bad for the body. A little caffeine from coffee can keep the body going and will allow a person to have the energy boost that they need. This smoothie is filling and will allow a person to have a sweet yet healthy treat. Cold coffee is blended together with a frozen banana, chocolate syrup, nonfat vanilla yogurt, and some ice. This is a cool and tasty treat. Chocolate and banana is a great combination as well.

 

 

 

Crispy and Healthy Cracker Bake

These crackers are crispy and they have less fat than regular crackers. They are cheesy and will make a great anytime snack. Shredded fat-free cheddar cheese is mixed with egg whites, whole wheat flour, and some seasoning. This mixture is rolled thin and then baked until they are light and crispy. The baked cheese dough is then cut into little squares. They have less fat, fewer calories, and fewer carbs than other crackers. They are savory and tasty as well. Parmesan Eggplant French Fries

This is a snack for the savory lovers that want something crunchy. It is so good that in addition to being a snack it can be served as a side dish during dinner. Both adults and young people will love these crunchy imitations fries. They are made with cheese so what is not to love about them. Whole wheat panko breadcrumbs are used in these fries. Panko is crunchy and whole wheat is better for the body. Parmesan cheese is added to the crumbs as well as seasonings. The eggplant is cut into strips and dipped in whipped egg whites and then the Parmesan panko mixture. The eggplant is then lightly baked until it becomes crispy. This is so good that many people will not know it is made from eggplant unless they are told. In addition to being a great snack, eggplant is high in antioxidants. This can help keep the body from getting sick. Chocolate Popcorn

Air-popped popcorn is a healthy snack on its own. As mention before there are a number of different flavors and spices that can be added to the popcorn to give it some extra taste. As it turns out the popcorn can be covered in chocolate and still make a healthy treat. Take some dark chocolate chips and melt them down. Dark chocolate is good for the body. It has many health benefits and an ounce a day is fine to have. The chocolate will also add a touch of sweetness to the popcorn. Once the chocolate has melted it should be added to the air popped popcorn. To add a crunch to this slivered almonds can be added at this time as well. The popcorn will need to be refrigerated for at least 30 minutes before eating. Dark chocolate is good for the heart and good for people that have a sweet tooth as well.
